March 2010

I decided not to take Peppi to Crufts, as she was out of coat following the birth of her litter last autumn, so only had Sisko with me and I was very pleased with her VHC in Open Bitch.  However I was absolutely thrilled with Kiva, TabanyaRuu Hyppia, who came 2nd in Open Bitch and then went on to be awarded Reserve Best Bitch.

I was also thrilled to be awarded a couple of trophies presented by the Finnish Lapphund Club of Great Britain (FLCGB) at their 2010 AGM.  I wasn't able to attend the meeting so am patiently awaiting the arrival of the trophy for Reserve Best Opposite Sex for Peppi's successes in the ring in 2009, based upon the number of points gained at Championship shows in 2009, quite an achievement since she left the ring at the end of August to undertake maternal duties, and the shield for Sisko's success as Best Opposite Sex Winner in AVNSC shows in 2009.

Whilst sorting through my photos recently I found a lovely picture of Smuu, at 8 or 9, relaxing on the sofa after a hard day's agility, it can be seen here.

Peppi is flown to Finland to be mated to Cantavia Leijonamieli.  Fingers crossed for puppies! Click here to read more details and see the sire.

August 09

BOURNEMOUTH  -  Peppi wins Best Bitch.

Judge – Toni Jackson (Elbereth)

PGB (6)  2.  Bailey’s TabanyaRuu Impi, not as developed in coat as 1 and this tends to make her look more rangy in appearance.  Well angulated, moves well.  Breadth of skull is OK for size and earset wide, but is a little longer in nose that 1.  Good eye shape.

OB (6)  1.  Mowatt and Smith’s TabanyaRuu Peppi, strong made bitch, smaller frame.  Would prefer a little more of her throughout, but she is a quality bitch of excellent type and is well balanced.  Adequate bone for frame, OK for coat, showing weather proofed qualities, attractive head, broad in skull, neat ears, attentive to handler at all times, angulation is OK, firm back of correct length for height, well set tail, powerful movement behind.  Could be a little more positive in front. BB

24th July 2009

Brilliant news - Kiva (TabanyaRuu Hyppia) hip score is 4/4!  The breed average is 13.  I am delighted as both her sister and Mother have scores of 7, so we're keeping low hip scores in the family:)  With her hip score result back and her current clear eye certificate, I am delighted and excited to announce that Kiva will be having her first litter at TabanyaRuu (on behalf of Simon and Lou) Spring 2010.

18th July 2009 - National Working & Pastoral Breeds Championship Show     Judge Pearl Chetwynd (Curdeleon)

I still can't quite believe it - Peppi wins BEST OF BREED!!!

PGB (10,3) 1 Mowatt & Smith’s Tabanyaruu Peppi, br/cr who really took my eye from the moment she strutted into the ring, excellent overall make, good head, eye, earset & bite, correct proportions, excellent bone & angulations confirmed in her true & free movement, for her age, she has learnt to handle the ring to perfection, never stopped showing. BOB;

Sisko wins 3rd in Open Bitch.

It was a very emotional win, particularly since Pearl bred Smuu my first Lapphund and Peppi is the Great Grandaughter of Pearl's brown tri bitch, Sulyka Kukka-Maaria at Curdeleon who sadly was given sleep just a few weeks ago.  It is very rare for a bitch to win BOB, so today was extra special.

Peppi has just turned 2 and her wins to date include:

CHAMP SHOWS

1 BOB

3 BB

3 RBB (including Crufts 09)

4 BP (out of 5 entered)

OPEN SHOWS

7 BOB

2 GRP 3

6 BP

2 PG3

2 PG2

She has also won Best In Match at Ringcraft.

5th July 2009 - Windsor Championship Show   Judge Stuart Mallard

Another great day!  Smuu came 2nd in Veteran, Peppi won her Post Grad Class and went on to win Best Bitch and Sisko won Open.

VB (3) 2 Mowatt's Curdeleon Suvi Ruusu of TabanyaRuu, 11 years, considerable quality, never stopped talking.  In super form & displayed sound movement.  Not quite overall balance of 1.

PGB (8,3) 1 Mowatt & Smith's TabanyaRuu Peppi, attractive brown, very well proportioned, strength to muzzle, moderate stop.  correct skull but could broaden marginally.  Correct ear & position, clean

moderate neck, well paced shoulders, ribs sprung & well back, strong loin, moderately defined quarters, in hard form & quality coat, well presented, moved well in profile.  A little wide in front. BB.

OB (3) 1 Mowatt's TabanyaRuu Sisko, very attractive lady, ultra feminine & beautifully balanced.  Not the ideal head & eye is rather light.  From thereon poetry in motion & a sound mover, superbly presented & nicely handled.

4th July 2009 - Windsor Championship Show

Zinty came 3rd out of 24 dogs in Special Beginners Stakes.  Sadly she missed out on qualifying for Crufts by one place.

7th June 2009 - Southern Counties Championship Show    Judge Pekka Teini (Finland)

TabanyaRuu Hyppia (Kiva) wins 4th in a large Finnish Lapphund Post Grad Class and then takes 2nd in Limit Bitch.  She has now qualified for Crufts.  I was over the moon with her performance as she has hasn't been to many shows.  Well done 'The Diva".

My gorgeous old girl Smuu was brought out of retirement and delighted the spectators by winning Veteran Bitch!  She seemed to love it, especially all the clapping and cheering!  She looked great and the judge was obviously giving her very serious consideration for Reserve BB.

Sisko won 2nd in Open and qualified for Crufts.

Peppi won Limit Bitch and went on to take Reserve Best Bitch:)

It's always lovely to do well under a Finnish Judge!

Peppi was also placed fourth in Rare Breeds in a large class under Mrs Karina Le Mare.

6th June 2009

I met up with TabanyaRuu 'Jaska' and his owners for a walk along with their Viivi (Infindigo Monta Viivi) and Jennifer and Jay her breeders.  We had a lovely two hour walk across fantastic countryside.  There can't

be many owners who can walk their two Lappies with BOTH sets of parents (Smuu, Tuukka, Keskiyo and Neka).  Photo's to follow.

5th June 2009 - Southern Counties Championship Show    Judge Mr Tim Ball
