I'm not quite sure where the time goes, but all of Ruska's puppies have been in their new homes for a month now and all are now enjoying the world at large (and a great number of coffee shops it would seem!).

We also have some new arrivals - three bitches and two dogs courtesy of Peppi & Salo.  You can see a slideshow of them from birth to 17 days here - warning, gory birth shots included!  Here's a few snaps of them taken yesterday.

The critique has been published in the excellent FLCGB Newsletter for the recent Club Champ Show (at which Salo was awarded his first CC), judged by Breed Specialist Pat Patch.  You can read the critique in full below (opens in a new window) it includes critiques of Sisko, Roope, Leks & Otto.

Pictured above, Selma, one of Susanne's gorgeous puppies.

Yesterday was a super day as I went to Pevensey Bay to visit Susanne (Lappvikens) puppies one last time before they fly the nest next weekend.  They are scrumptious pups & so chilled!  I took some great photos of the pups (if I do say so myself!) and you can see them here on Susanne's blog - such beautiful markings.  It was also lovely to meet up again with Camilla from Lappizaros Kennel in Sweden (Camilla bred Ice the sire of the puppies & also the sire of TabanyaRuu Glayzr Loki) and is staying with Susanne for a few days.

In other news, Salo disappeared on his walk yesterday for two hours, yes you read that right - he was having a lovely time over the common behind our house, little bugger!  I've picked ticks off Zinty, Scrabble, Salo & the cat today & cleared up two piles of vomit from Scrabble, cleaned off two dogs that have been digging in wet soil & gotten filthy (Salo did this twice), hoovered twice and interrupted Peppi rolling in fox poo.  Seriously, it's all rock and roll here!  On a brighter note, the Spitz enjoyed being 'the chosen ones' & walking around the high street & stopping for a coffee in Cafe Nero & also getting fussed by friends that I bumped into.  Salo had to make do with a run in our field - serve him right!  Sisko is on rest as she is limping slightly - she must know there's a champ show this Sunday *sigh*.  I'm sure she'll be fine for it, just got to keep Salo clean - easier said than done...

Here's a photo Rory sent me whilst I was in Egypt last week, lest I was missing cleaning up the mess he constantly makes!!! Just look at that happy smile though, impossible to be mad at him for long :-)

They've Gone!

I cannot believe that the puppies have flown the nest - where does the time go?  They were a confident bunch & very affectionate and with over 75 visitors from the age of 4 - 7.5 weeks, it's hardly surprising.

The pups spent most of their day in the garden, either in their large puppy pen or running loose under supervision.  It was interesting watching them grow in confidence, to begin with, when released from the pen, they would stay close to it, playing in the flowerbeds just behind it, then as their confidence grew, they began to explore further afield, particularly liking to play right under some very large conifers and then getting really brave and disappearing completely :-)  I'm afraid they all learnt to dig whilst they were here ..... but they had so much fun!

The puppies are a great distraction from working! ;-)

Salo is still just a big kid!

The pups enjoyed playing with Auntie Fiia

When the puppies wake up, many of them have temporary upright ears which droop as the day goes on :-)

They have loved playing with Auntie Sisko, Auntie Zinty & Uncle Scrabble.

Here's Salo demonstrating the goodies that go home with each puppy : a large piece of new vet bed that has been rubbed over Ruska, Salo & myself, a toy that has been played with by all the puppies, a new toy, some of the food that they have been fed on along with vouchers for 4kg of free puppy meat from Natural Instinct & discount vouchers from Arden Grange, a nail cutting guide & tick remover, an ADAPTIL collar that the puppy leaves here wearing, a hoof plus on this occasion, goody bags filled with treats & a magazine that I bought for each puppy from Crufts.

Whilst they were here, the pups were mainly fed on Natural Instinct raw meat, along with a meal a day of Arden Grange kibble.  They also tried scrambled egg, pilchards, raw white fish, rice pudding, raw lamb and rabbit.  They all loved their food & really tucked in, as their weight table can testify!
They also each spent time wearing cat collars, before leaving here wearing an ADAPTIL collar that releases calming pheromones over the next four weeks.

The pups went to the vets twice - the first time was quite a long drive to West Byfleet to have their eyes tested by BVA Panellist, Jeff Yellowley.  I am delighted to say that all puppies passed with flying colours.  Their second trip to the vet was to be checked over prior to leaving for their new homes and again, all healthy - perfect scissor bites, no hernias felt & both boys had both testicles (now fully descended - yippee!).

Of course what we've all been dying to know is - who is the Daddy?  Well after an agonising five week wait, I finally learnt that Salo had sired Magnum, Mini Milk, Choc Ice, Sorbet and Calippo.  A week later I finally got the result for Twister - he is an Ice Baby!  Woohoo!  I'm still waiting for blood test results on Mivvi - the suspense is agonising!

A week ago I visited both Mivvi (now called Enni) and Choc Ice (now called Kali) and managed to grab some cuddles, do some training & get some pics :-)

Kali & Enni, both aged 8.5 Weeks.

The pups have all settled into their new homes, with the inevitable broken nights & puppy play biting, but on the whole it's been a smooth transition for their new owners & I'm loving the regular updates I'm getting.  One thing's for sure - these little darlings are very much loved - what more could I ask for?  It's what makes all the hard work worthwhile.

So, what am I going to be doing with myself now that they've gone?
I wonder..... ;-)
