Kaija is being a very protective Mummy and Little Pickle is probably the cleanest puppy ever!
I think she is going to be very similar in markings to her gorgeous half brother Kimi.
![]() Kaija and Salo are delighted to introduce 'Little Pickle' born on Wednesday morning, a sweet little black, tan and white bitch - finally a girl puppy born at TabanyaRuu! Kaija is being a very protective Mummy and Little Pickle is probably the cleanest puppy ever! I think she is going to be very similar in markings to her gorgeous half brother Kimi.

During the week we had a lovely little visit from Tim, Nadia and little Roope, aged 12 weeks. Roope was Rupert when he was here and what a lovely little bear he has become. You can't beat puppy cuddles, a lot of chit chat and a bottle of wine .... :-) ![]() Saturday was a championship show at Loseley House, near Guildford - one of my favourites as it's only 20 minutes from my house. This meant I was able to sit at my kitchen table eating toast and drinking tea whilst waiting for the rain to stop before leaving, what luxury! Thankfully the rain then stayed away and it was in fact a glorious day.
Mixed results - sadly Leks and Sisko were in classes on their own. Salo was beaten into second place in post grad by the handsome Elbereth Miskakarhu, handled by my friend Karen Anderson. There was much laughter in the ring when Miska won, as these two boys go head to head each time and it was lovely for Miska to whoop Salo's ass at last! Serves Salo right for rocking up in his bikini ;-) it was disappointing that Ruska failed to qualify for Crufts :-( Still, there is always other years and she is still only sporting half a coat. Good news came from Finland this morning when her breeder Katja Rantinen wrote to tell me that Ruska is now officially an International Champion, the letter confirming it arrived today. Well done Ruska! The lovely thing about the day was the opportunity to have a good chat with everyone - so great not to rush off to start the long drive home. We took a leisurely stroll to watch Toni and Matka in the group ring and were delighted to see them getting shortlisted. Apparently the faces on either end of the line up were big winners - means nothing to me, I wouldn't know them if I fell over them, but the judges do. Lovely dogs mind. I was unable to take Zinty to Richmond the following day as after entering her, I was invited to my Great Aunt's 80th birthday luncheon in Somerset. Molly, a friend of mine offered to take her and her daughter Ellie along, to see what showing is all about. Imagine my surprise later in the day, when Ellie text me to say that she'd decided to take her into the ring and subsequently qualified her for Crufts!!! I was amazed, what a brave thing to do and didn't she do well! I had bathed Zin the day before to fluff her coat up - big mistake. She had gone into the bath in full coat and came out of it with half a coat. I shan't make that mistake again. There's lots of other exciting Lappy stuff afoot, but patience is a virtue - or so they say, although I'm really struggling with that one this year! I have uploaded Blake's brill photos of my breeding/dogs to my 'Show Photos' section of the website, or click here. Blake ably filled Mark's shoes as 'show photographer' and did a great job :-) ![]() I start this post with all my usual excuses about meaning to keep it up to date, blah blah. Anyway, it's been busy here, so let's cut to the chase ..... I did manage to do a lot of website updates over the Bank Holiday Weekend including adding a new section just for photos from shows & videos. We are very fortunate to have a couple of excellent photographers attend our events, so I decided to set up a new section just to showcase their talents (and my lovely dogs of course!!). Most of the photos are taken by Mark Treasure, to whom I am so grateful. He gives up hours of his time to take them and share them - thank you Mark! Last weekend was the FLCGB Open Show judged by Dr. Margaret Buckley and I had an amazing day! Leks won Minor Puppy Dog, Salo won a big Post Grad Class and Ruska came 3rd at her first UK Show and with only half her coat grown back! I was very pleased with that, as was Alice, her co-owner who was glowing with pride!! Sisko then took my breath away by not only winning Veteran Bitch, Best Bitch and Best Veteran in Show but also then taking Reserve Best in Show - WOW! There is something ultra special about doing well not just with a dog one's bred, but also a dog one owns! I have added Mark's fab photos to the Show Photos section, or you can view them by clicking HERE. Richmond Championship Show tomorrow and it's one of my favourites as it's only 20 minutes from where I live :-) Even better, we are not due in the ring much before lunchtime - a lie in!! Sadly Mark won't be at the show, so I do hope that someone going takes their camera! |
