It's entering what I call the 'silly season' for showing. I only enter a certain amount of shows throughout the year & most of these take place during the summer. Last week I attended three, although frankly I should have stayed at home & given Bath Championship Show a swerve - Salo was not the judge's cup of tea & was given third place out of three (Hero to Zero, ha ha!) & Sisko was lame during our practice run so I withdrew her. When I got home I took her to the emergency vet because clearly she was in pain & the vet discovered that she'd split her toenail back to the nail bed - ouch! Mind you, had I stayed at home I would not have seen Ninka win her first ever class nor Roope win Best Puppy! I wouldn't have seen all the glorious mud either - now that really would have been a shame.
On the following Wednesday it was a local Open Show - Guildford & District, a great show for me being only 20 mins from my home. This time Fiia came 2nd out of three & Salo won Best of Breed under Judge Sam Moore (Morval). Salo went on to win Group 2! I entered little Zinnie into German Spitz Open & she came 3rd out of 3, awwww bless!
The following weekend was Southern Counties Champ Show & what an amazing show that was, so much so that it deserves its own blog post! Now it's safe to say I am running somewhat behind with my blog posts & web updates - I've had little or not internet for the past fortnight, so although I started this entry ages ago, I hadn't been able to finish it. But as a postscript I must just add this amusing story. At the Guildford Show, the judge of German Spitz gave me a wry smile & said to me "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone". I had no idea what he was talking about - perhaps he was referring to the fact that her teeth are a little crooked? Yesterday she 'smiled' at me and there in all its glory I could see that her front tooth is missing! MISSING!!! It's sort of funny & tragic at the same time - she's only six and a half! How long before I'm liquidising her Natural Instinct for her? ......
Wednesday 30th October was a very exciting day as I went to Heathrow Airport to collect Ninka from her flight from Lecibsin Kennel, Finland. Our hearts melted when we set eyes upon her, photos do not do her justice, she is ultra feminine and oh, so sweet!
Ninka is settling in really well with Julia and David and has already become great friends with Roope.
On Saturday we had a great reunion at Simran and Sarang's house in Worcester Park. Simran has Kimi from Fiia and Salo's summer litter and it was the first time I'd seen him since he was 7 weeks old. It was so lovely to see him, along with brother Roope, cousin Leks and Ninka. I took Little Pickle along for the socialisation, she is such a character, afraid of nothing and she loved playing with the 'big dogs'.
From left to right, Leks, Kimi, Ninka, Little Pickle and Roope.
I have been busy updating my website this evening, visit the homepage to see what I have added. Lots more to add, particularly on Little Pickle, so please check back again soon....
